What is a Parliamentary Paper?
A Parliamentary Paper is a document that has been formally tabled in the Tasmanian Parliament (either in the House of Assembly or the Legislative Council) and ordered to be printed. Parliamentary Papers include reports from Royal Commissions, budget papers, annual reports from government departments as well as reports prepared for the members of either house by experts, delegation, petitions and committees.
Tabling of Parliamentary Papers
The presentation of a document to a house of Parliament is called tabling. The tabling of documents by the Presiding Officer, Ministers, Members and the Clerk occurs almost every sitting day. Not all tabled papers are ordered to be printed.
